MT2 – Melanotan (Melanotan II) is a laboratory-engineered analogue of the naturally occurring alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It works by binding to melanocortin receptors in the body, increasing melanin production to darken skin pigmentation. Unlike topical tanning products, MT2 stimulates the body’s own pigment cells, resulting in a more natural and longer-lasting tan.

Beyond cosmetic tanning, MT2 has also been studied for its ability to reduce sun damage risk by boosting the body’s natural UV protection. Additionally, some users report increased libido and appetite suppression as secondary effects due to its interaction with other melanocortin receptors.

MT2 – Melanotan is typically reconstituted with bacteriostatic water and administered subcutaneously in microgram doses over a course of several weeks.

Dosages & Protocol
For Men and Women

• Loading Phase: 250–500mcg daily subcutaneous injection until desired pigmentation is achieved

• Maintenance Phase: 250mcg 2–3 times per week to maintain results

Cycle Length: 4–8 weeks for loading, followed by maintenance dosing as required

How to administer
MT2 – Melanotan comes in a lyophilized powder and must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water before injection.

Reconstitution:

1. Wipe vial tops with alcohol swabs.

2. Draw 1–2ml of bacteriostatic water using a sterile syringe.

3. Inject slowly into the peptide vial, directing liquid against the glass wall.

4. Gently swirl until dissolved (do not shake vigorously).

Injection:

• Use an insulin syringe (29–31G).

• Pinch a fold of skin on the abdomen or thigh.

• Inject subcutaneously at a 45° angle.

• Rotate injection sites to reduce irritation.

Storage

• Store lyophilized powder in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

• After reconstitution, refrigerate at 2–8°C.

• Use within 30 days of mixing.

Half-life & detectability

• Half-life: Approximately 30–60 minutes (but tanning effects accumulate over time)

• Detection time: Not well established; not typically screened in standard anti-doping panels
